As you can see, we are not overlooked in any way! This is what the view looks like from our front porch:
Javea, its fishing port (Duanes del Mar) and the wide beach and promenade of the Arenal are straight ahead in the distance.
Peering out above the trees at half left is our famous local mountain: Montgó. Standing at 753 metres high, the summit of Montgó is the second highest peak so close to the sea throughout the whole of the Mediterranean. From the top on a clear day the island of Ibiza can even be seen.
Yes, we have climbed up there! Quite a hike... but an amazing view...
This is what you can see looking out from the back porch and back dining area. The swimming pool is large and private. We are not overlooked in any way by anyone (as you can see) because the view to the south and the sea is Spanish National Parkland and cannot be built upon. Both views out from front and back are breathtaking.
To the left, the lower level barbecue and entertaining area is just visible down a flight of outdoor steps.
Villa Alegre sits on a hilltop near the sea in the middle of Spain's bustling Costa Blanca. The Costa Blanca (literally: White Coast and named for the brilliant bright light of its clear skies and its fine sandy beaches) may have all the usual tourist trappings but you would never know it from our high spot at Villa Alegre. We sit high above and secluded from the touristy flesh pots of Javea (our nearest coastal town) but we're also near enough to it to pop down in under ten minutes and sample Javea's excellent shops and restaurants if we want to. It really is the best of both worlds. Javea (or rather now named Xabia in modern Spanish politically correct regional maps) has considerable charm as well as the wonderful Arenal beach and promenade and the old fishing port. It is about half way between Valencia and Alicante (just over one hour from either airport). A fast motorway runs up the coast between the two city airports which makes travel communications easy, but thankfully the motorway moves a long way inland when it gets near to Javea so we can't remotely see it or hear it! |

Villa Alegre sits high up in the Costa Nova part of the Javea peninsula. Because we are so far out to the east on the promontory, we have sea views on three sides and a National Park behind. And we're off the motorway so there is no through traffic and we are effectively on the most easterly coast of this part of Spain. The directions to Villa Alegre are therefore: 1) Fly to Alicante or Valencia
